About me

About me

Hi!

My name is Noa Malmsten and I'm a Swedish chef and hunter based in southern Sweden! I grew up in a restaurant family and with hunting, fishing and growing vegetables occupying the spare time. I started working with food in my young teens and have been working full time in the restaurant industry for the past six years. I am currently studying forestry at the Swedish university of agricultural sciences (SLU) along with working part time as a chef.

On my free time I'm preferably either in the nature hunting or in the kitchen cooking with the ingredients gathered in the forest.

The goal of this blog is to share my adventures and to educate and inspire people to cook more with wild game and to be more creative with it. Cooking with wild game can be challenging and is the reason why most hunters freezers remains full the whole year.

Wild game is an incredible resource and by putting it on the dinner table during the week it allows us to hunt during the weekends!

Hunting

I have been hunting, fishing and cooking as long as i can remember and would to some degree call it a part of my lifestyle. I was taught to hunt from my father which in his turn learned it from my grandfather. This shared knowledge is whats makes hunting so special to me and it makes me proud to call myself a hunter.

The hunting possibilities in southern Sweden offer a diversity with both small and big game. My grandfathers passion is to hunt pheasant and partridge with his English Setters and is for me in many regards the peak of hunting. Most of my hunting memories consist of hot August days with my father and brother during the pigeon season just before the real season kicks off.

But if i where to select one form of hunting it would probably be stalking for Roe Deer. Even if the driven hunts for medium and big game like wild boar and moose can create some of the most adrenaline filled moments the calm evenings of the Roe Deer stalk is

incomparable. I love feeling of being a part of nature and the ability to just watch and observe the daily routines of flora and fauna.
